Jess is passionate about disrupting inequitable practices and building just, inclusive systems and conditions that ensure all students have the opportunity to achieve their dreams. Jess joins The Primary School from Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) where she served as the Strategic Initiatives Manager in the Office of English Language Learner and Multilingual Achievement. There she directed a number of strategic initiatives intended to accelerate outcomes for ELLs including developing and implementing a 3-year strategic plan and leading a multi-year transformation initiative to launch more dual language and newcomer programs in district schools. Prior to OUSD, Jess worked at Education Pioneers developing, managing and evaluating its national fellowship program.
Jess graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A in Political Science and Mass Communications. Go Bears!
