Sonia is a firm believer that students learn best, feel secure, and understand expectations when there is structure, routine and consistency in their daily schedule. She feels that when she can convey her enthusiasm for the lesson being taught, it is often contagious enough that students become engaged in learning.
Before joining The Primary School, Sonia volunteered for 12 years as a teacher’s assistant and parent teacher council member at her children’s school in The Netherlands. She also has experience teaching both elementary and middle school students. She taught Kindergarten for two years in Canada and 1st to 3rd grade in the United States.
Sonia graduated with a double major Liberal Arts degree in English and Psychology, and an associate degree in Early Childhood Education from Canada graduating with high honors.
