Karla has spent over thirteen years serving as a pre-school and elementary teacher across diverse school settings in Chicago. More recently, she has expanded her reach to children and families with special needs as an inclusion resource teacher. Her passion for empowering families stems from growing up in a bilingual, immigrant home. Karla understands and empathizes with children and parents alike and is excited to join a community that shares and embraces her own philosophy of caring for the holistic learning and development of children. She loves hearing progress updates from past students. Karla earned her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education with a Special Education credential from DePaul University and a Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction with an ESL credential from Concordia University.
