Stephanie Ibarra Vargas

Stephanie was born and raised in Redwood City and her family is from Jalisco, Mexico. Being a first-generation college graduate, Stephanie utilized educational resources and mentors at San Francisco State University. During her time at SFSU, Stephanie completed her undergraduate courses towards her Bachelor of Science in Public Health Education. Stephanie volunteered at Clínica Martín-Baró, a free SFSU student-run clinic in the Mission District; where she interpreted primary care consultations, and in-took patients. Stephanie completed her internship at Operation Access where she interpreted preoperative surgery sessions for community members receiving free specialty surgeries through the organization. Most recently Stephanie was providing clinical case management at CORA, a domestic violence agency in San Mateo; where she supported families navigating legal, mental health, childcare, and housing services.

Taking her experience as a first-generation woman, her educational background, volunteering at free clinics, and case management; led Stephanie to the Primary School. Partnering with parents, health, and academics to best support the whole-child were what attracted Stephanie to The Primary School. Stephanie and her family have utilized many resources along their journey; Stephanie is thrilled to now be a part of many family’s support during theirs.
