Week 5: Book Topic Brainstorm (Oct. 11)

Purpose: Together you will brainstorm your book topic, character and plot ideas

Practice: Brainstorm potential settings, characters, problems the characters will face, steps to solve the problem, and the solution. Use a screenwriting template for support. 

Resources: Use this Writing a Story Organizer as a tool to help you brainstorm ideas for your story.

If you have time, begin writing your book! 

Practice: We will be creating our story books using Google Slides. To begin creating your book, please create a Google Slides Presentation and share the document with your mentee and Vida. Title the document with your and your mentees names (ie. “Vida Amanat & Vanessa Martinez’s Story Book”). 

Feel free to start with a cover slide, adding a title and your names as authors. Next, start adding slides as pages to your book! On each slide, begin typing your story. On Google Slides, both you and your mentee should have access to typing on the slide. As much of the story as possible should come from the mentee, but if they need help with typing, you can support them with jotting their ideas down.
